ARTIST STATEMENT

"Lupin III really has a knack for gathering around him people who want to live free. The rare few who share his specific kind of careless joy in challenging the law tend to stick around. Here, four remarkable individuals confidently and effortlessly defy the looming, ever-present, specter of authority. Represented in this illustration by Inspector Zenigata, although his role is more flexible then that. His allegiance has been swayed in the the past when faced with powerful people who think they have a right to impose their will on others. He is their pet cop though so, while he is my favorite character, I do love to see him lose. Fuck the police.

Or at least that was my idea when I drew this. I also had a sketch with the theme "thrill" and another with the theme "chaos." This one just ended up being my favorite composition. You'll have to forgive me here, I'm not a writer.!"
