ARTIST STATEMENT

"The most interesting central theme in Lupin, in my opinion, is the overarching idea of legacy. What it means to be predestined for something; to achieve that goal, be in endless pursuit of it, to fall just short of the mark- or, equally, the importance of the impressions we leave behind. I think that each character in the franchise grapples with their shadow in one way or another; fighting desperately to become the image they project to the world- to reach self-actualization.

Within this desperate struggle, they find one another, and perhaps the need to achieve their personal goals falls a little to the side in favour of community and found family and fun. I think it's very sweet that the Lupgang manage to stick together despite the odds, even if their relationship goes against their original goals.

My art tries to address this, and though slightly abstract, I hope it gives you pause. I wanted to give room for the viewer to interpret each fruit- the gang- in their own way, and to realise that despite all of their differences, these characters share the same roots."
