A DIGITAL LUPIN III FANZINE

3D-animated turnaround of fiat 500 and the lupin cast in a low poly style, swapping between 8 scenes. 1: outside the driver's side door, fujiko sheepishly rubs the back of her head as zenigata lays sprawled behind the fiat, having been run over. jigen stares her down, hands on his hips. 2: jigen reclines inside the fiat, feet sticking straight up through the sunroof. his shoes form a seat upon which fujiko sits in a thinker's pose on top of the roof, making lupin lose it in the background. 3: feet braced on the back of the fiat, lupin pulls jigen who pulls zenigata's leg, both trying to free him from where he's jammed through the sunroof, upside-down. 4: zenigata, lupin, jigen, and fujiko fly off the fiat as it careens through the air, goemon at the wheel. 5: stanced on the roof, goemon tries to cut down lupin, who gleefully dodges by falling off the hood of the car. 6: fujiko sits in goemon's lap as they chat, seated against the side of the fiat. 7: lupin and jigen take the fiat for a spin, both their arms hanging out the windows. jigen props his feet up on the dashboard. 8: goemon, lupin, fujiko, and jigen hide behind the fiat, cornered by a rambunctious zenigata waving his fist in the air.

ARTIST STATEMENT

"i deeply admire the unabashed nature of handcrafted personal websites, built to celebrate the creator's passions, and limitless in simplicity or complexity.... this project's website-as-zine format blew my mind, so i knew i had to utilize the medium by presenting an animated work.... as a result, i finally learned blender!! lupin has pushed me to expand my art since 2020, and i'm truly grateful to have encountered so many incredible artists and writers through this series! :^]

beneath all the goofiness i adore, lupingang's bond has a tasty aspect of tragedy.... when you've made it as the best of the best and can go anywhere, obtain anything, what else does this world have to offer? they spend their remaining years chasing thrills, betting their lives because games are no fun without something at stake. lupingang are each other's greatest treasure - trusted and beloved partners, a lifeline in a world of enemies fueled by greed and revenge, priceless by virtue of being irreplaceable.... so it makes me crazy that the lifestyle that brought them together and keeps them alive is also what threatens to take it all away, and they're in too deep to ever stop!!! .......i could not figure out how to explain this scenario in a single drawing, so we ended up with fiat instead LOL

my favorite character is fiat 500, and this is the first time i've gotten to feature it in a zine!! to me it represents the core 5 and all they do together - from physics-defying, shattered glass getaways, to late-summer road trips with seats back and all the windows down.... lupin owns the over-the-top mercedes, just as all the world's riches are his for the taking, but ultimately it's about the tiny fiat - his tiny team - enjoying life by outmaneuvering forces far greater than them."
