ARTIST STATEMENT

"I really wanted each and every element of this piece to make some sort of sense all lined up together. I composed my work using the golden ratio: an infinite pattern. It's never stopping just like there never truly is an "end" to Lupin & Co.

Lupin has the biggest head because he's the main character and he knows it (in french, "avoir la grosse tête" - to have a huge head - means you're cocky). Everyone besides Zenigata is reaching for Lupin's cigarette, wanting to light their own with it - in a way, they all depend on him.

Lupin reaches to light Zeni a cigar because he's his driving force, Zenigata's literal burning passion to catch Lupin and bring him to justice. Jigen stands closest to Lupin because he's his right-hand man and closest ally; Fujiko is leaning on Goemon, putting Zenigata's hat on his head to try and get her share of light; Goemon tries too but he's not as weary of Fujiko as Jigen so he gets slowed down. Also, Lupin's jacket floats to continue the golden ratio and echoes Arsène Lupin's gentleman-thief cape!"
